Maria Pullicino is a British-Maltese director, writer and editor. Her style blends cinematic realism with real world characters, exploring modern connection with humour and heart.
Her films have screened internationally at festivals including the BFI London Film Festival, SXSW and Leeds Film Festival, amongst others. In 2020 she was nominated as Best Writer for the BFI Future Film Awards. You can watch one on BFI Player here.
She directed short docs, music videos and fiction. Her doc work for Middle East Eye has been long-listed for the One World Media Awards in the Refugee Reporting category in 2021.
She is currently in post-production for her narrative short film, funded by ACM Screen Support. Maria has studied a BA in English and Drama at Queen Mary University of London, and trained in screenwriting at CSM on a scholarship.
